DISCUSSION

1. 2007-2008 Amendments

1.  2-B Central League is looking at proposing an amendment to restrict   membership in WIAA to public schools only.  This has the support of ESD 113 Superintendents.

2.  Transfer amendments coming from the 3-A league

2.  Officials and ejections

Situations were discussed where officials ejected athletes, when there was no cause for ejection.  Since these are judgment calls there is no appeal process.  Should a process be developed for a review of ejections?  Several ideas were discussed; there may be a proposed amendment from District IV

3.  2007-2008 Budget recommendations and changes

Tabled to November meeting

4.  Mike Colbrese, Executive Director WIAA

1.  Encouraged AD’s to go back to their leagues and have them make sure their coach’s have First Aid and CPR certification.  Audits of coaching standards have shown this is a problem

2.  ACLU spoke at the last WIAA Executive board meeting and stated they are recruiting people to sue schools.  Areas of concentration are fields, and booster club funding.

3.  The WIAA has an opening for a full time Assistant Director.  To be filled by July

4.  Hot issue in all states in the Public/Private school problem.  If there isn’t a level playing field between Public/Private then we need to take steps to correct this situation.  Executive Board will be proposing some amendments.

Henry Karnofski reviewed the steps the school district took in establishing the eligibility of a transfer student.
