EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING

Minutes of JULY 27, 2007

 

BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT:  Tim Trimble, Steve Frucci, Gary Stamper, Mary Erickson, Larry Nielson, Kerry Abbott, Don Farler, Ed Bate, Carinn Ormson, Pat Wilhelms, Steve Bridge, Todd Bridge, Gilbert Haataia,  Leta Meyer, Scott Chamberlain, George Crawford, John Kilpatrick, Henry Karnofski

District Directors report

1.  2008-2009 3 week window fall, 2 week windows Winter/Spring for getting information on allocations

2.  2008-2009 District events will be on Memorial weekend, State next weekend. (State will poll schools to see if interest in change)

 

3.  Try to schedule Golf Tournaments earlier so the state can get the information earlier.

4.  Concerns regarding District Track events

            a. Are the rules being followed at league events?

            b. Need to emphasize rules at all times.

5.  Weight Management Wrestling

            a. Wrestling coaches attend a meeting after fall AD workshops (same day)

            b. This form needs to be completed before anyone steps on the mat.

6.  Recommended to Executive Board to have same rules for state qualifiers apply to Tennis that apply in Golf.

7.  Mike will meet with those sites that had motel reservation problems.

8.  Discussed ways to improve getting scores and game information to Don Davidson and the State in a timelier manner.

9.  Winter Coalition/Representative Assembly has been moved to the Renton Events Center.  Starting time 9: am.

            1.  Union High School 4-A

                 Napavine, Rochester, Hoquiam, River Ridge could move

Financial reports for periods ending May 31st, June 30th

Letter from LeMasters Accounting (Reporting of District events)

Coach’s Passes will not be allowed in District IV

District IV 2007-2008 Budget (Handout)

            1.  Director Frazer reviewed expenses/revenues over last 4 years

                        a. Reviewed District IV funding agreement with leagues.

            2.  Raise Passes to $35.00, which will include District IV tournaments

3.  Director Frazer will submit increases in the 5% tournament fee at September meeting

 

OFFICIALS

Reviewed meeting with Todd Stordahl and Officials (Handout)

Reviewed proposed contact with Officials (Hand out)

            1.  Revised version will be emailed with minutes

Reviewed selection of officials for District tournaments

Reviewed process for using the nearest officials for tournaments

Director Frazer will contact the Officials Association to fill a vacant position on the District IV Board

Discussed creative ways to cut mileage costs.

 

DISTRICT TOURNAMENTS

District IV 2006-2007 Tournament report (Hand out)

Discussed combining some Wrestling and Volleyball tournaments

            1.  Using the Clark County fairgrounds for Volleyball and Wrestling

           

Reviewed District IV Tournament pay scales

            1.  Taken back to league for input.

            1.  M/S/F to raise prices (Leta Meyer made motion)

All District IV Football and Soccer sites to be reevaluated

            1.  Soccer minimum 60/100 yards

            2. on web site, must be completed by October 1st

District IV policy adoption

            1. M/S/P Administrator and/or designee must check in with the site manager before a contest begins in the following activities.

                        a. Football

                        b. Soccer

                        c. Basketball

                        d. Baseball

                        e. Fastpitch

                        f. Volleyball

                        g. Wrestling

            2.  Event will not start until check in
