a.       Still a problem with selected officials not showing up for their assignments

b.      Assigning Secretary’s need to notify Tournament Directors of any changes

District IV Scholarship forms are on web site

2009 Summer Retreat tabled

Track and Field officials for District tournaments was tabled

Spring allocations from handed out due by March 12th

Winter Coalition report

a.       Amendments voted on at April 16th Executive Board meeting

b.      22 amendments, some need clarification

External audit report by LeMasters Accounting

a.        Report indicated District IV financial reports in very good shape

2.      Jeanne Shults, GSHL 3-A, Columbia River self report, Gymnastics coach did not take rules test in a timely manner.

3.      Letter from Keith Samplawski, Lake Quinault High school, self report: rule 52.5.2 Boys Basketball player played in six quarters in one day.

4.      Letter from John Kilpatrick, Lower Columbia Middle School President, Kalama self report: rule 18.6.2  C squad player did not meet District grade requirements

5.      Letter from Ed Bate, Ridgefield self report: rule 17.5.8, Coaching out of season scorer coach

 

DISCUSSION

1.       Junior Highs dropping WIAA

a.       Considerable discussion regarding the cost factors of belonging to the WIAA

b.      Schools are looking at ways to save programs and cut costs.  Most Junior Highs are operating in the negative due to rising official costs and fees.

c.       Need to be sure and contact insurance carrier with regard to liability.

2.       Officials fees

a.        Considerable concerns with the raising of officials fees, when district have to cut programs.

b.      2-A league is exploring going back to two man mechanics as a cost saving. In some case this could save some schools a $1,000 or more
